Dab a dry sponge into a dye ink pad then onto
the paper/card you are working on. You can build up the colour
by repeatedly putting more ink onto the same area.
Using more than one colour can be very effective.
Sponging is a great way to give an aged effect i.e.: brown ink around the edges.
Different sponges will achieve different textures so it pays to experiment.
