The blender pen is colourless (like using a
wet paint brush with watercolours).
To achieve a shading effect, apply the dark colour around the edges then use
the blender pen to pull in the colour to the centre until it fades out.
You can achieve a pale colour by touching the tip of a blender
pen to a coloured pen then colour in the image.
Best used on a high quality card and with waterproof ink pads eg: Archival, so
that the colour does not run or smudge.
